Built in 1896, the Trabucco Building was known as the "Cheap Cash Store". The walls are made out of Mormon Bar granite a foot thick. The windows, also from Mormon Bar, were salvaged from a Chinese store. The wrought iron staircase was shipped around the Horn. Local stone masons crafted the interior stone wall from Mariposa rocks. John and Catherine Trabucco also built a house at the rear of the store until 1933, when the home burned down.
Today, the Trabucco building is completely original except for the first floor windows, doors and all the light fixtures. The upstairs windows are also original. The green steel shutters in the front of the building protects the store from fire.

Proprietor Marci Perez invites you to explore this beautiful historical mercantile store and enjoy the many locally made products throughout the two levels of the building. Featured Artists will demonstrate their expertise once a month.
Most of Marci's career was working for executives in aerospace and other businesses, including the President of an International corporation. Her husband, John, was also in aerospace. They moved to Mariposa in 2000 from the Central Coast to retire. Marci says, "I can never fully retire, though, and since I am known as a 'professional shopper', decorator, and love this town, I decided to combine my passions and open the Marketplace. My purpose was/is to give the local artists and entrepreneurs a nice place where they can sell their treasures, and at the same time, I can satisfy my creative side."
